Sunday July 4, 2010 Happy Birthday America!!!

It has been a while since we had wifi or phone service for that matter. This week we have been in out of the way places and have driven over 800 miles on dirt/gravel roads. My last post was in the wee hours of July 1.
Since then I had been keeping my daily blog up on the computer. Last night as I was about to finish, the battery on the computer ran out of power, shut the computer down and lost everything since July 1. It was quite a disappointment today when I figured it out. I will go back and try to get it back up to the present. I did not lose any pictures as I have them in a separate file plus I have two external hard drives that I back them up on. I will post some pictures tonight and label them. Then I will work on catching up.
Today we only drove 157 miles from a boon docking spot outside of TOK, AK. to Fairbanks. We stopped in Delta Junction which is the official end of the Alcan Highway. We took a few pictures and got a certificate for completing the drive.
Along the way we saw a moose feeding in a pond. Later we got our first look at the Alaskan pipeline.
Then we went to North Pole, Alaska. You have heard the expression "Christmas in July", well today we had Christmas in July.
We came to the Riverview RV park for the night. We had been boondocking for a few nights and needed to wash clothes and charge batteries. We will stay here tonight and maybe tomorrow night as we explore Fairbanks and go to Sam's Club.
Enjoy the pictures of yesterday and today.
