Friday--One week into our journey

We started the day in a panic. I started the generator so Deatra could do her hair. (in case you didn't know when you are not hooked up to electricity you only have 12 volts in a motor home except when using an inverter.) We only use an inverter to charge things like the computer, camera battery, ipad, and phones. Everything else will run off of 12 volts except things like a curling iron or hair dryer. When I start the generator we have 110 volts like in the house.
Back to the panic. After starting the generator me and O went for a walk. I noticed a rattling noise from the generator when we went by but I though it was nothing. When we got back Deatra said the generator had knocked off and would not restart. I tried and sure enough it would not start. Panic and bad thoughts. It is still under warranty but where is a repair shop and when can they get to a blow generator? How long would this delay our trip? I checked the oil and it was good as I just changed it. I got the manual out and found a list of codes accessed by blinking lights on the control. My code was 36. It said check the gas tank as the generator pick up is not on the bottom to keep you from running the motor home out of gas. I looked on the scan gauge and we had 11 gallons left. We went and filled the motor home and guess what, the generator worked again. Then Deatra remembered the sales guy telling us that it would not run when the motor home was less than 1/4 tank. Sometimes you just don't feel very smart.
Today we drove on "back" roads today and not on the interstate because it was much shorter. The roads were very good and the speed limit was 70 most of the way. We saw a lot more of the country side that way. We saw more how people live out here. The only problem was there is a lot of road construction going on out here. When the do that it will be 5 miles, or more, stretches with pilot cars or they will destroy the old road and make a temporary on while they fix it. We went through on little down with the main road through town destroyed and a gravel road built around town.. We saw more windmills, antelope, deer, sheep, and snow covered mountains. We drove 318 miles today. We have been gone one week today and have driven 2600 miles exactly. That is about half way to Fairbanks Alaska from home.
We stopped a the Lewis and Clark RV park, 30 miles from the Canadian border. In the morning we will cross the border and be on our way.
